Biography/Profile
Jerome Butler was an architect who got the first two years of his undergraduate education at the University of Illinios, Navy Pier campus in Chicago, which was the predecessor to the University of Illinios at Chicago. Butler held several important positions in Chicago. These included city architect, commissioner of public works, and commissioner of aviation. According to the UIC Alumni Magazine, "[i]n 1976, [Butler] helpd lead the restoration of Navy Pier's East End buildings, a project that won the American Institute of Architects' Design Excellence Award." The papers in this collection deal with that project.
